In March 2009, the Directors initiated a unique landmark program designed to provide area high school students with basic life skills, and free legal information regarding various aspects of the law as it relates to young adults’ daily decision making. The purpose of the program is to allow these individuals to make informed decisions by providing a casual, entertaining and non-judgmental setting regarding a broad spectrum of legal issues confronted by them. Topics include criminal law, vehicle and traffic law, DWI, consumer credit, family law, landlord/tenant, cell phone contracts and civic responsibilities and are presented in an informal setting where no more than 15 minutes is spent on any one topic. The program has been presented to over 5,000 students in Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Hamilton and Essex Counties and the Foundation would ultimately like to broaden its scope both regionally and nationally.
